This catalogue documents and complements the exhibition at the historical site of the Charité in central Berlin inaugurated in 2017. Published in a German and an English edition, it details the history of the Charité during the times of National Socialism and documents doctors' questionable medical actions and medical crimes. Furthermore, it contains the perspectives and personal accounts of those affected, including victims of medical transgressions and medical scientists persecuted by the regime.

Both the catalogue and the exhibition result from the research project Wissenschaft in Verantwortung – GeDenkOrt.Charité. Targeting both scientists as well as the broader public, they provide information and encourage reflection about the permanent peril of modern medicine.
